Opera Loki have spectacularly brought to life the zest and comedy of Amanda and Anthony Holden's witty and lively translation. This is Rossini at his best with the well known overture, the tongue-twisting 'Largo al factotum', the brilliant showcase 'Una voce poco fa', two great finales and plenty more.

The Barber of Seville is directed by up-and coming director, Rae Leaver and is produced by Jane Mabbitt. Cast members also include Hampstead Garden Opera regulars, Daniel Roddick and Gabriel Gottlieb. Rosina is played by the amazing Gillian McIlwraith who sings her debut with Opera Loki but has sung for Glyndebourne Opera and represented Scotland in the Cardiff Singer of the World. Other cast members include James Fisher, Jane Mabbitt, Russell Painter and cameo role by Alton local Paul Gray.

The company was established by local singer Jane Mabbitt in 2001, to give singers who are training or early in their careers the opportunity to perform opera in English. It has since produced a succession of vibrant and popular productions of Mozart, Bizet and Rossini operas in France and England. Opera Loki's cast over the last decade have moved on to sing at the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne, English National Opera and English Touring Opera. One Opera Loki singer joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera house in 2010 and this year's winner of the Kathleen Ferrier Award sang with Opera Loki for many years.
